Teaching in Honolulu since 1995, classes are offered for all levels of dance.
Jean is also an independent consultant for
Noevir ~ advanced natural skincare and nutritional products for men and women.
Ms. Yanagawa a former president and board member for Middle Eastern Dance Artists of Hawai'i (MEDAH), a local non-profit. It was during one of her years of administration that MEDAH received IRS non-profit confirmation, (IRC Sec. 501(c)(3)). Through MEDAH she has organized and sponsored numerous workshops with American belly dance instructors and performers; as well as coordinate MEDAH's annual fund raisers and its local teacher workshops.
In 1997, Ms. Yanagawa coordinated and directed the first troupe performance of American Tribal Style belly dance at Honolulu Hale, and for the grand opening of First Hawaiian Bank's Moiliili branch. In 1999, she was the first instructor to coordinate and direct a fully-costumed large troupe performance for MEDAH's Annual Student Recital, which set the standard for future recitals and troupe performances.
Ms. Yanagawa continues to coordinate and direct belly dance performances for the Mayor's Annual Cultural & Craft Fair, Discovery Moiliili Festival, Foster Botanical Garden Midsummer's Night Gleam, The Khanate of the Golden Horde (a living-history society), in addition to other cultural, educational and special events. She currently instructs at Kaimuki Community School for Adults, Moiliili Community Center, Honolulu Club, and Hickam Community Housing LLC's Community Center.
For the past two years she has been coordinating with other prominent instructors and performing artists worldwide to lay the foundation to make Hawai'i Raks a world-class Middle Eastern dance event that would bring participants from all over the world.
Over 25 years of Middle Eastern belly dance experience, with more than half that time as an instructor with the Honolulu Club, Moiliili Community Center, and Kaimuki Community School for Adults, Dept. of Education, State of Hawai`i.
